InnoPath Introduces First MDM System Tying Smartphone, Advanced Featurephones to Customer Care

Although you may have already caught Rich Karpinski’s coverage of our news, I wanted to share here too! InnoPath launched its Mobile Device Management (MDM) enabled solution for customer care – ActiveCare. Through this solution, based on our unique experience in delivering products to both operators and handset vendors, the company is addressing key operational and customer satisfaction concerns facing Tier-1 operators and mobile phone manufacturers. ActiveCare is based on a demonstrated ROI, near-term deployability, and the financial stability of a company that has now been profitable for nine quarters.

InnoPath will demonstrate this end-to-end ActiveCare solution at MWC, showing how it can make a difference today. We will also be conducting a set of ROI workshops for operators. If you’d like to schedule a briefing and have not already done so, please contact Teresa at tmckee@innopath.com.

Please view the following flash for additional background on the solution. The full Press Release can be found here; and finally, here’s a quote from analyst firm IDC’s Stephen Drake, that’s in the release:

“In the current climate, being able to offer a solution that is immediately deployable, reduces churn and is capable of generating concrete returns on the investment is critical within the MDM space. Successful suppliers of MDM solutions should seek to tie MDM to one of the few remaining strategic differentiators available to the Tier-1 operator by addressing the operators’ single largest operational expense – customer care.”

Acme Packet Showcases Wireless Access and Interconnect Solutions at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2009

BURLINGTON, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that it will showcase its wireless access and interconnect solutions at GSMA Mobile World Congress at Fira de Barcelona February 16 – 19, 2009. Acme Packet will be exhibiting, presenting and demonstrating at hospitality suite Z3.12 in Zone 3 and the FemtoZone in Hall 2.

At Mobile World Congress, senior staff will be available to discuss how Acme Packet’s solutions can smartly simplify the delivery of IP voice, video and data services over 3G and 4G RANs, fixed-mobile convergence networks, VoIP interconnects and core transport networks. Acme Packet will also highlight the key role its Net-Net® product family plays in GSMA IPX, PathFinder and Rich Communication Suite (RCS) initiatives. To schedule a meeting with Acme Packet or view the demonstrations at Mobile World Congress complete the meeting request form on the Acme Packet website.

Acme Packet’s hospitality suite will showcase its latest product demonstrations featuring femtocells, streaming video control and hosted unified communications. The Net-Net Security Gateway (SG) and Net-Net Session Director (SD) will be used along with products and services from partners AirWalk Communications, BroadSoft®, Chinook Hosting and Tatara Systems. The demonstrations include:

SIP femtocell voice and data service delivery

Acme Packet’s Net-Net SG and Net-Net SD will connect an AirWalk EdgePoint™ SIP-based femtocell to an IMS/NGN data center. The Net-Net SG provides the femtocell security gateway function for securely tunneling voice and data traffic across the Internet. Acme Packet’s session border controller provides SIP session control and routes traffic to Tatara Systems’ Tatara Convergence Server (TCS) to provide voice, messaging, and supplementary services as well as active session handover with the macro TDM-based cellular network.

Video delivery with quality of service

Acme Packet’s Net-Net SD will control the delivery of Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP)-based video over a bandwidth-constrained access network. The SBC acts as a RTSP-proxy, controlling video stream admission into the access network by querying an external policy server and assigns appropriate QoS marking for the stream’s packets. The SBC also provides access controls and topology hiding to ensure network availability and security of the video servers.

Hosted unified communications in a software as a service (SaaS) model

Service provider-hosted unified communications will be delivered to fixed and mobile devices via the Net-Net SD and solutions from BroadSoft, Microsoft and Chinook Hosting. BroadSoft’s BroadWorks® application is integrated with Microsoft’s Hosted Messaging & Collaboration (HMC) solution for a seamless user experience. Acme Packet’s Net-Net session border controller is deployed at the border between Chinook’s data center and the Internet providing security, service reach maximization, SLA assurance and regulatory compliance for the unified communications.

Acme Packet will also be presenting and exhibiting at the FemtoZone in Hall 2 at stand 2.1 B34. Acme Packet is a Femto Forum member and has contributed to the definition of the femtocell architecture now adopted by 3GPP in release 8. Featuring leading femtocell vendors, the FemtoZone, sponsored by GSMA and the Femto Forum, will serve as the industry’s central information point on femtocell markets and technologies at Mobile World Congress. Acme Packet will present “Security Considerations for Femtocells” on Tuesday, February 17th, 11:30 am – 12:00 pm at the FemtoZone booth. More information on the FemtoZone, including the speaking program, is available at the Femto Forum website.
