RAD Data Communications and Ipanema Technologies Join Forces to Bring High-Margin Application-Aware Services to Existing IP and Ethernet VPNs

Co-Developing Joint System to Provide a Larger Universe of Enterprise Users

with Integrated VPN Optimization Solution and Quality of Experience Guarantees

MAHWAH, New Jersey, and FONTENAY-AUX-ROSES, France, February 9, 2009 – RAD Data Communications, the leading international manufacturer of intelligent access devices, and Ipanema Technologies, the leader in application traffic management systems for wide-area networks (WANs), have announced plans to co-develop a joint system for enhancing added value services in Layer 3 and Layer 2 VPNs while laying the foundation for future business services. This cooperative solution will be based on RAD’s intelligent customer premises equipment and Ipanema’s Autonomic Networking System (incorporating advanced application-awareness capabilities).

The joint product offering will pave the way for service providers to extend existing WAN optimization services to more IP VPN enterprise sites, as well as assure end-to-end application performance guarantees over increasingly popular Ethernet VPNs. The integration of these two best-of-breed components into a unified platform is also expected to deliver significant OpEx reduction gains for service providers.

“Building on RAD and Ipanema’s respective market leadership, the R&D and commercial partnership will make end-to-end network control and optimization as well as Quality of Experience guarantees an affordable reality for deployment at all of the enterprise VPN’s customer sites,” explains Dr. Daniel Kofman, Chief Technology Officer at RAD Data Communications. “Service providers will not only be able to roll out higher-margin, added value services for both IP and Ethernet services, but will also benefit from better management of their network resources.

“Moreover, this unique solution will help usher in a new era of business process-centric (instead of network-centric) business-aware VPN services, which are ‘technology agnostic,’ sparing end users from the network complexity and technological diversity of L3 and L2 network connectivity.”

“This collaborative effort is of strategic importance for both Ipanema Technologies and RAD because it places our companies in the forefront of industry efforts to address the critical challenge of offering application-based managed service capabilities for end-to-end network optimization, applications performance control and application SLAs,” notes Thierry Grenot, CTO at Ipanema Technologies. “The partnership represents a natural evolution for our industry leading solutions for IP VPN, logically expanding their scope into a broader market and easily accelerating the deployment of highly affordable value-added services in the near-term.”

The RAD-Ipanema system concept has already been validated by several of the world’s leading Tier 1 carriers and trials are now being scheduled for 2009. In addition, the companies are working closely with telecom operators and the managed service provider community to define the business services of the future.

With about 14,000 subscribers to their fixed WiMax services in Austria and Slovakia, where Volubill’s solution is already in active use, the launch of the Croatian mobile Wimax service heralds the beginning of a new mobile WiMax operation.

The Charge-ITâ„¢ Dynamic Charging Platform (DCP) offers high performance, real-time, bi-directional management of service requests between the network, service and application layers. The pre and post-paid services being managed by the product are wireless broadband access and VoIP.

Agito Networks Customer Selected as a Finalist for Leading Analyst Firm’s Wireless & Mobile Excellence Award

CTO from Anthony Marano Company to Present a Case Study on Enterprise Mobile Convergence Using Agito’s RoamAnywhere at Leading Analyst Firm’s Wireless & Mobile Summit 2009

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Feb. 10, 2009 – Agito Networks, Inc., the company delivering new technology in enterprise mobility, today announced that one of its enterprise mobile convergence customers has been named as a finalist for the Gartner Wireless & Mobile Excellence Award.

Selection of the finalists for Gartner’s Wireless & Mobile Excellence Award was determined by Gartner analysts.  As a finalist, Chris Nowak, CTO of Agito Networks customer Anthony Marano Company, will present at the Gartner Wireless & Mobile Summit 2009, to be held Feb. 23 – 25 in Chicago.

Located near downtown Chicago, Anthony Marano Company serves the Midwest with fine fresh produce from its state-of-the-art distribution center.  The 400,000 square foot facility contains 73 docks to receive and ship more than 1,400 types of fresh produce.  With Agito’s RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, Anthony Marano Company enables continuous high-quality voice coverage for its mobile produce buyers and sellers, which need to be accessible at all times to receive and fulfill an average of 3,000 orders throughout the day.

According to Nowak, Anthony Marano Company’s large metal and concrete facility makes cellular communications impossible for the staff which is constantly on the move between produce areas, shipping docks, receiving docks, and internal and nearby offices.  Accessibility is critical because the staff deals with fresh produce, a perishable commodity.  A missed call could easily cost the company thousands of dollars, Nowak said.

“We are more successful and make more money when our buyers and sales staff get calls the first time around, and calls don’t land in voice mail,” said Nowak.  “In addition to addressing our coverage issues, Agito delivers high-quality voice, which is critical for us because our handheld devices are the primary means of communication.  RoamAnywhere’s unique seamless handoff capability is a technological leap from previous solutions we have seen and tried.  Its high availability is also very important to us.”

Nowak noted that Anthony Marano Company’s previous mobile convergence solution was an Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) system, which did not integrate into the company’s Avaya Definity 8710 PBX or give mobile users the unified communications functionalities they required.  In addition to Agito’s RoamAnywhere and Avaya’s PBX, Anthony Marano Company’s enterprise mobile convergence ecosystem also includes T-Mobile and AT&T cellular service, Nokia E66 and E71 Series smart phones, and Meru Networks WLAN access points.

“Agito gives us a competitive advantage because we now have the ability to respond quickly,” said Nowak.  “RoamAnywhere offers us the whole package, and our users they are impressed with the voice quality, address look up synchronization, and speed of handover moving inside and out.  Agito lets us be productive and mobile with the fastest seamless handover we’ve seen, unlike previous solutions we’ve had, and it provides us with excellent voice quality over WiFi.  It gives us a big boost in productivity, and was easy to deploy on the administrative side.”

Agito Networks’ award-winning RoamAnywhere Mobility Router uniquely fuses WiFi, cellular, IP telephony, and location information, improving the accessibility and responsiveness of mobile workers, while drastically reducing mobile costs (http://www.agitonetworks.com/products).  RoamAnywhere mobilizes voice and unified communications for enterprises of all sizes, extending PBX and deskphone features to mobile phones.  In addition, RoamAnywhere provides industry-leading handover between WiFi and cellular networks to reduce cellular costs and improve in-building coverage.  Purpose-built for the enterprise, RoamAnywhere uniquely offers high availability, redundancy, security, enterprise scalability, and the industry’s broadest mobile handset and IP-PBX support.  It works with all cellular network technology, and natively integrates with enterprises’ existing equipment, including WLAN infrastructure and directory stores.

“This is a distinct honor for one of our valued customers, and we are pleased to see them recognized for their efforts,” said Pejman Roshan, Agito Networks vice president of marketing and the company’s co-founder.  “The industry is always interested in real-world benefits of enterprise mobile convergence solutions, and Anthony Marano Company is a good example of how organizations can improve voice coverage and increase productivity and revenue by leveraging a state-of-the-art enterprise mobile convergence solution such as RoamAnywhere.”
