SANTA CLARA, Calif. – March 18, 2009 – Aurora Networks, Inc., the only optical transport solution provider focused on delivering a cost-effective, optimized platform for next-generation cable services, today announced its Chinese expansion supported by regional growth and new Fiber Deep opportunity. Due to increasing demand for its optical transport solutions among the Chinese cable community, Aurora Networks’ has added a Shanghai office, led by industry veteran Eugene Lee, and a major regional distributor, Faithpower Ltd. in Beijing to extend product line deployments, field service and support capabilities.
“Aurora Networks is experiencing continued strong customer demand and sales success of its Fiber Deep solution, as announced in January, in addition to a growing demand in the Asia-Pacific region, including China, for our evolving cable solutions,” said Guy Sucharczuk, chairman, president and CEO of Aurora Networks. “Regardless of their regional location, MSOs who need cost-effective, reliable, bandwidth-scalable transport products rely on Aurora Networks’ optical transport solutions to accommodate revenue-generating subscriber services with additional bandwidth.”
Eugene Lee, recently named the Chinese country manager, will lead all business, promotion and sales opportunities from Aurora Networks’ new Shanghai office location. Lee brings more than 10 years of cable and telecom industry experience to the company. Prior to joining Aurora Networks, Lee worked with U.S-based Ripley Tools, provider of professional tools for the cable and telecom industries. Lee was also with Japan-based Fujikura, a major manufacturer of optical fiber and cable to China.
“Fiber’s benefits to the cable industry are strongly realized as operators seek infrastructure changes to better service their subscribers,” said Lee. “Fiber Deep, Aurora Networks’ efficient next-generation service launching pad, has received high demand in this region as the cost-effective way to enhance existing HFC networks and achieve fiber’s benefits without full fiber deployment. “
In addition, Faithpower, a strategic Aurora Networks’ distributor in the region, worked to successfully certify Aurora Networks’ products with the Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT). To date, Faithpower has deployed Aurora Networks’ products and solutions in five major cities and provinces in China.
Lee will be representing Aurora Networks at the company’s booth #2304 at the China Content Broadcasting Network (CCBN) convention at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing from March 21-23, 2009.
