IntelePeer Expands Next-Generation Voice Network With Sonus Networks

Sonus Networks, Inc. (SONS), providing network transformation through IP communications technology, today announced that IntelePeer, Inc., a leader in hosted on-demand rich media and IP communications, has expanded its Sonus based network to accommodate the growth of IP voice traffic. The expansion provides a significant increase in IP capacity across IntelePeer’s network nodes, doubling the number of sessions available for IP traffic. IntelePeer selected a Sonus based network to support its fully managed, hosted, on-demand voice peering infrastructure in 2006 and since then has seen IP traffic entering its network more than double.

IntelePeer’s continued growth is in large part due to their ability to be flexible and respond to market needs for high quality, cost effective communication services. To support their growth, IntelePeer has chosen the Sonus Network Border Switch as a standalone session border control (SBC) solution, for secure IP-peering, session control and media management. This will allow IntelePeer to offer additional services including media transcoding that extend the reach of its robust and scalable Voice Peering Network to both newer IP and legacy TDM connectivity.

“Today, IP voice traffic entering our network represents about 60% of all traffic and we expect an upward trend in IP-based traffic to continue for the foreseeable future as additional networks join our peering grid infrastructure,” said Phillip Bronsdon, senior vice president engineering and operations at IntelePeer. “The Sonus platform has proven to be robust, secure and scalable, and the support provided by the Sonus professional services team has enabled us to quickly respond to changing market needs and grow our business to offer new voice and IP services to our carrier and enterprise customers.”

“Like many service providers, IntelePeer needs to manage the changing mix of TDM and IP traffic seamlessly, efficiently and cost effectively within the same network,” said Shailin Sehgal, vice president, product management and marketing at Sonus Networks. “The Sonus solution is flexible and can be integrated with the media gateway function or used independently. In today’s cost conscious environment we believe that this approach provides a more cost effective way to transform carrier networks to all IP.”

The IntelePeer network began carrying live traffic on the Sonus platform in late 2006. It has deployed the full suite of Sonus solutions, including the GSX9000(TM) Media Gateway, the PSX(TM) Call Routing Server, the SGX(TM) Signaling Gateway, the Sonus Insight(TM) Management System and the Sonus Network Border Switch (NBS). It is now routing all traffic using the Sonus platform in conjunction with its SuperRegistry(TM) and Voice Peering Network services.

Agito for BlackBerry Introduces VoIP and Unified Communications to Users of RIM BlackBerry Smartphones

Agito Networks’ BlackBerry Support Mobilizes Enterprise Voice and UC Applications for North America’s Most Popular Smartphone; Extends its Lead of Broadest Range of Supported Handsets

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – June 22, 2009 – Agito Networks, Inc., the company delivering innovative solutions in enterprise mobility, today announced Agito for BlackBerry, bringing VoIP over WiFi and Unified Communications to users of the Research In Motion (RIM®) BlackBerry® smartphone.

Agito’s award-winning RoamAnywhere Mobility Router is the industry’s most powerful mobile Unified Communications product, purpose built for enterprises to help them mobilize enterprise voice and UC applications to increase mobile worker productivity while reducing costs. With today’s news, Agito extends its lead of the industry’s broadest range of supported handsets, to more than three times as many devices as competitors support.

According to Gartner, Inc., RIM’s OS had the second highest market share based on smartphone sales to end users worldwide in 1Q09, a position that was maintained from 1Q08. RIM’s worldwide OS market share increased to almost 20% from Q108 to Q109.1 Agito Networks, which has supported Symbian OS devices since the company launched and added Windows Mobile OS device support the following year, is distinguished as the only mobile UC vendor to extend VoIP, UC and PBX functionality to users of the popular BlackBerry smartphone over the WLAN, while also extending these capabilities across the cellular network.

Previously, BlackBerry users could access UC and PBX functionality – such as one enterprise number and voicemail, extension dialing, conferencing, directory query and more – only over the cellular network. Cellular-only UC and PBX integration is incomplete and proves problematic for BlackBerry users indoors, due to poor in-building cellular coverage and overuse of cellular minutes. Now, BlackBerry users can benefit from the coverage and cost-savings benefits delivered by Agito Networks’ enterprise mobility solution, which supports the broadest set of handsets, PBXs and WLANs, and delivers industry-leading WiFi/cellular network handover.

“Here at Orrick, our lawyers and staff utilize BlackBerry smartphones for communicating with each other and our clients, inside our practice offices and while on the go,” said Patrick Tisdale, CIO at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. “We have been interested in FMC, but needed a solution which would support our BlackBerry users. We’re excited that Agito has filled this mobile industry need. The Mobility Router can be readily integrated with our enterprise IT infrastructure, providing us automatic cell-WiFi network selection to deliver in-building coverage for our voice and data applications. This solution can address our current challenge of poor in-building cellular coverage that results in lawyers missing calls, and enables their BlackBerry smartphones to serve as untethered office phones without an investment in wireless VoIP handsets – all improving services for our clients.”

Now, Agito Networks delivers the benefits of a complete enterprise mobility solution with more capabilities for BlackBerry users than competing solutions, which require multiple servers and PBX upgrades. Agito’s RoamAnywhere Mobility Router is the only solution to combine mid-call features for BlackBerry smartphones – such as hold, conferencing, transfer; a single enterprise number and voicemail; directory query; and call retrieve – with automatic sub-100 millisecond handover over both WiFi and cellular networks. Agito Networks also uniquely delivers full-featured cost savings for BlackBerry users – such as international direct dialing and roaming, least-cost routing, reverse dialing, automatic SIM swap, and dynamic calling rules.

Prior to this announcement, Agito already supported more than 40 mobile handsets globally, approximately three times as many devices as the closest competitor. With this new support announced today, Agito Networks’ addressable market is widened among North American enterprises, and nearly all vertical markets worldwide, due to the growing popularity of the BlackBerry smartphones. According to Gartner, Inc., RIM held a 55.5% market share of smartphone sales in North America in Q109, up from 45.1% market share of smartphone sales in North America in Q108.2

“The industry has been asking mobile UC vendors to deliver support for BlackBerry smartphones for years, including vendors who have been in business and trying longer than Agito Networks,” said Pejman Roshan, Agito Networks Chief Marketing Officer. “Clearly we are pleased to meet these requirements, after significant investment and effort over these past two years. Agito has continued to distance itself from the competition due to its innovation and differentiated functionality, which has been widely recognized. We look forward to further penetrating this untapped market of BlackBerry users, and expanding our ability to meet the mobility needs of organizations worldwide.”

Agito Networks’ RoamAnywhere Mobility Router uniquely fuses WiFi, cellular and IP telephony with location information, improving the accessibility and responsiveness of mobile workers, while drastically reducing mobile costs (http://www.agitonetworks.com/products). RoamAnywhere mobilizes voice and Unified Communications for enterprises of all sizes, extending PBX and deskphone features to mobile phones. In addition, RoamAnywhere provides industry-leading handover between WiFi and cellular networks to reduce mobile costs and improve in-building coverage. Purpose-built for the enterprise, RoamAnywhere uniquely offers high availability, redundancy, security, enterprise scalability, and the industry’s broadest mobile handset and IP-PBX support. It works with all cellular networks, and natively integrates with enterprises’ existing equipment, including WLAN infrastructure and directory stores.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the RoamAnywhere solution remains unchanged – starting at approximately $9,995 for the 2000 Series and $27,495 for the 4000 Series. RIM BlackBerry support will be available early next month through leading channel partners worldwide. Contact Agito Networks at http://www.agitonetworks.com for more information.

IntelePeer Earns Microsoft 2009 Best Solution Design Award for Communications-as-a-Service Within Windows Live

IntelePeer’s ReachLive Application Honored for Ability to Harness Potential of Cloud Computing

SAN MATEO, Calif. — May 19, 2009 — IntelePeer Inc., a leader in hosted on-demand rich media communications, announced today that its ReachLive application has been recognized by Microsoft as a Best Solution Design for Communications as a Service within Microsoft® Windows® Live. IntelePeer received the award at the Seventh Annual Microsoft Enterprise Developer and Industry Solutions Conference 2009, held at the New York Marriott Marquis.

“IntelePeer ReachLive taps into the true power of Microsoft Windows Live Services and the IntelePeer AppworX Open Communications Platform, and this award illustrates that potential,” said Charles Studt, vice president of product management for IntelePeer. “IntelePeer AppworX strips away the complexities of telecom for developers. Applications like ReachLive allow Web developers to quickly bring communications-enabled business services to market that reduce operational costs, drive productivity and open new revenue opportunities.”

IntelePeer’s ReachLive application allows Windows LiveID users to reach their contacts by phone or SMS as quickly and intuitively as instant messaging. This Web-based communication mash-up extends the reach of Microsoft Live Services to business or personal groups in a familiar Live Messenger-like interface. Users reach their contacts using the phone of their choice, SMS text messaging or live chat, and the user includes media or other rich content. With the powerful IntelePeer network and open communications platform, ReachLive easily brings contacts together in an ad-hoc conference call or as recipients of a SMS message or voice blast.

“By demonstrating the ability to combine Web services from multiple providers and hosting the application on a dynamically scaling infrastructure, IntelePeer was able to show how cloud computing will impact communications enabled applications in the not- so-distant future,” said Joseph Hofstader, architect, Microsoft Communications Sector group.

ReachLive combines a scalable network capable of reaching thousands of users with existing contact lists from Windows Live Services. For ReachLive users, phone numbers are removed and the user decides which phone number of theirs to ring. Phone calls are initiated like chats, which enables instant notification or collaboration with individuals and offers many of the benefits of cloud computing, including cost savings, flexibility and speed of deployment.

IntelePeer was honored alongside three other companies at the awards ceremony, which focused on computing at the speed of the cloud as well as what cloud computing offers: flexibility, low entry costs, and access to services and applications beyond the traditional computer loaded with applications. Winners of Microsoft’s award were named visionaries, taking cloud computing and designing ways to harness its potential.
